Martinez To Play Soccer For NWC

Carla Martinez of Orange City has signed a letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Northwestern College next fall.

Martinez is a multi-sports standout who has played one year for the MOC-Floyd Valley High School soccer team heading into her final season this spring. Martinez totaled five points, scoring two goals to go with one assist, for the Dutch during her sophomore season. She is also a three-year starter in volleyball, earning all-conference accolades as both a junior and senior. Martinez plans to major in Translation and Interpretation at Northwestern and is the daughter of Juan and Maria.

“Carla is a solid player with a lot of flare,” commented Northwestern assistant coach Macy Kuehler. “She is both technical and athletic, and plays with high energy for all 80 minutes in her high school games. Northwestern is gaining a good, local prospect with a high ceiling.”
