McKenney To Join Red Raider Softball Program

Erika McKenney of Hawarden has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern College.

McKenney has enjoyed an outstanding four-year career playing for the West Sioux High School softball team heading into her senior year. The 5’8″ pitcher / utility player ranked fifth in the War Eagle Conference with a .443 batting average and helped lead her team to the regional finals with a 24-8 overall record. She was second in the conference with four home runs and totaled 17 runs to go with 31 RBIs.

In the circle, McKenney posted an impressive 21-5 record with a 2.48 ERA last summer, totaling 147 strikeouts in 152.2 innings pitched. She is a three-time all-state pick, earning second team accolades the last two years, and has received all-conference and all-district honors multiple years. McKenney was also named to the all-Northwest Iowa Review team three years. An outstanding student who is a member of both the honor roll and National Honor Society, McKenney plans to major in Biology at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Tim and Peggy.
