Morningside tabbed as preseason GPAC football favorite

Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the preseason football coaches’ poll for the 2025 season. Morningside University is the preseason pick to win the GPAC championship.

The Mustangs reached the NAIA semifinals last season before falling to eventual NAIA Champion Grand View. Northwestern also made the NAIA Football Championship Series, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2024.

Morningside totaled 99 points and nine first place votes.  Northwestern was picked second with 89 points and two first place votes. Dordt was picked third with 84 points, with Concordia tabbed fourth with 68 points. Midland rounded out the top five with 64 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Games for the 2025 season kick off on Thursday, August 28th through Saturday, August 30th, with most teams playing non-conference games. Four teams open conference action on Saturday, August 30th as Hastings takes on Doane along with Northwestern battling Waldorf, while the rest of the teams start league play on September 6th.
