Multiple local athletes earn GPAC Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – Multiple athletes from Dordt University and one athlete from Northwestern College have earned Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Athlete-of-the-Week honors as announced by the GPAC Wednesday, January 14th.

Addy Liston of Dordt University is this week’s women’s track athlete-of-the-week. Addy Liston, a freshman, from Ireton, picked up her first career win as a Defender at the Dordt Open last weekend. Liston won the 1,000 meters with an NAIA B standard time of 2:57.99.

The time ranks second in the NAIA, first in the GPAC and is the third fastest in program history.

Braden Kalvelage from Northwestern College is this week’s field athlete-of-the-week.  Kalvelage, a senior from Hastings, Nebraska, won the long jump with an “A” standard mark of 7.33 meters, which is eighth best in the NAIA.

On the track, he broke the school record in the 200m, placing first with a time of 21.89 at Saturday’s Dordt Indoor Open.

Isaac Davelaar of Dordt University is this week’s track athlete-of-the-week. Davelaar, a junior, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, won two events at the Dordt Open. Davelaar collected a first-place finish and hit the NAIA B Qualifying standard in the 600 meters with a time of 1:20.86.

The time is the fastest in the GPAC and ranks third in the NAIA. Davelaar then anchored the Defenders 4×400 relay to a win in the final race of the day.
