Sheldon, Iowa – History was made on Saturday, August 30th, as the men’s Thunder soccer team earned their first-ever victory in program history with a 3–2 win over Anoka-Ramsey Rams in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
NCC struck first when Warren Traina played a ball through to Sami Sumra, who finished cleanly in the bottom corner to give the Thunder a 1–0 lead at halftime. The Rams equalized early in the second half, but NCC answered with two more goals. Traina netted the second on an assist from Jose Martinez. Ian Troncoso then beat his defender down the line, before finding Mackenzie Hopkins to extend the Thunder advantage to 3–1.
Anoka-Ramsey scored one goal late in the game to make it 3-2, but the Thunder defense held strong to secure the first progam win in men’s soccer history at NCC.
