Sheldon – The Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) Thunder Soccer Teams are planning to host a youth soccer camp July 8th-9th at the NCC home soccer field located at the Sheldon High School.
This two-day youth camp will be divided into two age groups: 5- to 8-year-olds and 9- to 12-year-olds, ensuring age-appropriate activities and training for participants. Participants will rotate through various skill stations that focus on passing, shooting, and skill moves. These stations are designed to provide a fun training experience that helps young players enhance their techniques and overall understanding of the game.
Coaches Tre Thomas and Jesse Kuehler will guide the campers through each station, offering personalized tips and encouragement. In addition to skill development, campers will have the opportunity to apply their new abilities in fun and competitive scrimmage matches. These scrimmages are structured to use the skills learned during the stations, promoting teamwork and thinking in a game-like environment.
A highlight of the camp is the chance for kids to meet the players and coaches of the newly established NCC soccer teams. According to a press release by NCC, this meet-and-greet session allows young athletes to gain inspiration and insights from collegiate players who have recently started their journey with NCC. The college said interacting with these role models can be a motivational experience, showing campers the possibilities that lie ahead with dedication and hard work. Each participant will also receive a camp t-shirt.
“We are thrilled to host this youth soccer camp and give young athletes in our community the chance to develop their skills while having fun,” Head Coach of NCC Women’s Soccer Tre Thomas said. “Our players and coaches are looking forward to sharing their knowledge and passion for the game with the next generation of soccer players.”
Registration is open now, and spots are limited. Cost of the camp is $50. To sign up or learn more, visit https://forms.gle/HzMzUSNwPGbxuyh66 or contact Coach Thomas.
