Sheldon, Iowa – The NCC Thunder men’s and women’s soccer teams as well as the sports shooting teams competed through a busy stretch of fall competition October 4th through the 11th. Both soccer teams faced ICCAC opponents on the road, while the Sports Shooting team represented NCC in a Tri-Matchup in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Women’s Soccer:
- October 4th — Final Score: Iowa Lakes 8, NCC 0
Iowa Lakes led from start to finish with a strong offensive showing and a shutout defense. - October 6th — Final Score: DCTC 1, NCC 1
Kayla Anderson scored early to put NCC up 1–0 at halftime. DCTC answered early in the second half. NCC controlled possession for much of the second half, but couldn’t find the back of the net again. - October 11th — Final Score: Iowa Central 7, NCC 0
Iowa Central maintained control throughout the match, limiting NCC’s scoring opportunities while capitalizing on their own chances.
Men’s Soccer:
- October 4th — Final Score: Iowa Lakes 8, NCC 2
Warren Traina scored both goals against the No. 8 team in the nation. The Thunder trailed just 3–1 at halftime, before Iowa Lakes surged ahead with five more scores in the second half. - October 6th — Final Score: DCTC 4, NCC 0
After a scoreless first half, NCC went down two players due to red cards. DCTC capitalized on the advantage, scoring four in the second half to secure the win. - October 11th — Final Score: Iowa Central 2, NCC 0
NCC played a strong defensive game and held Iowa Central scoreless through the first half. The Tritons broke through in the second half to claim the win.
Sports Shooting — October 4 Tri-Matchup at Grand Island, NE
NCC competed in a Tri-Matchup against Iowa Western and Central Nebraska, finishing with a team total of 420. The Thunder fell to Iowa Western (486–420) and Central Nebraska (461–420) in the overall team standings, but recorded several strong individual performances.
