Sioux City, Iowa — Kolby Newborg finished among the top 10 golfers at Tuesday’s Briar Cliff Invite played at the Two Rivers Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa. The meet was a one-day, 36-hole event.
Competing in one final tune-up meet prior two the GPAC Championship next week, Newborg recorded his sixth top 10 finish of the season, placing eighth out of 56 golfers. Newborg shot an even-par 70 in the final 18 holes after carding a 77 in the first round.
Northwestern placed fifth as a team with a 36-hole total of 599 (302 / 27), 12 strokes in back of Morningside. The University of Jamestown won the team title with a 583, one shot better than the host team, Briar Cliff.
All five golfers for Head Coach Aaron Aberson’s squad finished among the top 30; Corey Matthey of Morningside was the overall medalist with an even-par 140, one stroke in front of Bennett Lundy (Dakota Wesleyan).
