No. 10 Iowa State men host No. 23 BYU Tuesday night

Ames, Iowa (RI) – Defense will be a key for Iowa State on Tuesday night when the Cyclones close the home schedule against BYU.

It pits a Cougar team that averages 81 points per game against a Cyclone squad that gives up just over 67 points per contest.

That’s ISU coach T.J. Otzelberger who says good defense begins by limiting transition and easy baskets.

BYU is the top shooting team in the Big 12 and is connecting on 49 percent in conference play.

BYU junior forward Richie Saunders is averaging nearly 18 points in conference play. Both teams are 12-6 and tied for fourth in the Big 12 race.

Iowa State is down a spot to 10th in the latest AP Top 25.
