Orange City, Iowa — A pair of ranked teams in NAIA collide in Orange City on Saturday when second ranked Northwestern hosts number 20 Dordt.
Northwestern is 7-0 this season in the GPAC and 8-0 overall with a non-conference win over Presentation to open the year. Northwestern’s closest game this season was a 35-29 win over Midland on September 11 in overtime. Dordt is 5-2 this season and saw its five game winning streak stopped on Saturday in a 34-28 loss to Morningside. Dordt’s other loss was a one-point setback in week one against Midland.
That’s Northwestern coach Matt McCarty who says Dordt’s option attack is tough to prepare for.
Anthony Trojahn has rushed 92 times for 534 yards and eight touchdowsn and a 5.8 yards per carry average while Josh Bush has 42 rushing attempts for 325 yards and five touchdowns and 7.7 yards per catch. Reynolds has rushed 65 times with 322 yards and four touchdowns.
Dordt has made a ton of progress under coach Joel Penner and this game provides another opportunity for the program.
Penner says limiting mistakes is a key.
Northwestern’s Parker Fryar leads the team with 57 tackles and he has an interception. Tanner Oleson has 32 tackles with Noah Van’ t Hof and Oleson has two interceptions. Jaden Snyder leads the team with four interceptions and Garrett Raymon has three quarterback sacks to pace the Raiders. Dordt’s Brayton Van Kekerix and Tanner Millikan have 52 and 44 tackles each and Jalen Placide had 36 with an interception. Abe Stoesz has 2.5 sacks and two interceptions and Drew Daum has a team high four quarterback sacks. Nathan Kabongo has three interceptions and Grant Hixson has a pair.
Dordt will host Briar Cliff in its last regular season home game while Northwestern is scheduled to face Morningside in Orange City.
