Iowa City, Iowa – The Big Four women’s basketball series resumes on Friday night when 22nd ranked Iowa hosts UNI.
The Hawkeyes are looking to sweep the instate series after wins over Drake and Iowa State. Iowa coach Jan Jensen.
Jensen says the in-state games carry added emotion and she hopes they will continue.
Jensen adds the key for the Hawkeyes will be defending the Panther guard duo of Maya McDermott and Kayba Laube. McDermott is averaging a shade under 22 points per game and Laube ranks third in the country in 3-point shooting at 52 percent.
UNI is 5-5 after a 68-53 loss on the road to a South Dakota State team that is receiving votes in the AP Poll.
That’s UNI coach Tanya Warren. The Panthers shot on 37 percent in that loss and were only 1-of-15 from 3-point range.
The Hawkeyes are 9-2 after a loss to Michigan State in their Big Ten opener. It’s a 6:30p.m. tipoff in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
