8th-ranked Northwestern hosts the University of Jamestown (N.D.) for its Homecoming game this weekend, Sept. 28. Kickoff at DeValois Stadium is set for 1:30pm. Unbeaten this season, Northwestern is 2-0 in the GPAC, 3-0 overall. The Jimmies are 0-2 in conference play and are winless in four games overall.
Brian Mistro is in his first season as the Jimmies head coach, returning to his alma mater after a seven year stint as an assistant with Concordia (Minn.). Mistro played for Jamestown from 2005-08, earning all-conference honors as a safety. He inherits a team that finished tied with Concordia for eighth place in the GPAC at 2-7, 3-8 overall in 2018.
Jamestown began the season with a pair of non-conference losses to Valley City State and Dickinson State and then dropped games to Hastings (38-21) and Dordt (41-16) in GPAC play the last two weeks.
The Red Raiders climbed to the No.8 spot in this week’s NAIA coaches’ poll after its 52-7 win over Dakota Wesleyan last weekend in Mitchell, S.D. They are one of two teams from the GPAC, along with Morningside, recognized in the coaches’ poll.
