Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) announced Monday, April 22, that Axel Ricart as the newest member of the
Thunder Men’s Soccer Team.
Coming from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Ricart has signed on to join NCC for the upcoming academic year as a student in the Business program. Axel brings a rich background in soccer, having played as both a winger and a full back in high school, and competing in tournaments with the prestigious Barca Academy. His versatility and experience are expected to inject vitality into the Thunder’s lineup.Ricart was drawn to NCC by its new and growing soccer program.
“I am excited for what they have to offer for the future. It’s a chance to be part of something from the ground up,”
Ricart said, adding the opportunity to shape a new team and its traditions from scratch was a key factor in his decision.
On the academic front, Axel is eager to dive into business management. He chose the Business program
motivated by a curiosity about the mechanics of business operations and the creative problem-solving involved in entrepreneurship.
“I am excited to learn about how the business area works and to apply that knowledge practically,” he
said.

Soccer Coach at NCC, lauded Axel’s skills and potential impact. “Axel is a
talented outside back, and his defensive prowess and creativity with the ball
are exactly what we need to strengthen our team,” Kuehler expressed his enthusiasm
about Axel’s future contributions.
Axel is looking forward to
embracing the challenges and rewards of both his academic and athletic journeys
at NCC. “Experiencing a new lifestyle and learning about a different culture
are opportunities that excite me the most about coming to NCC,” he stated,
underscoring his readiness for the holistic collegiate experience that awaits.
Axel is the son of
Alexander Rafael Ricart Aistova and Ananta Jorge Garcia of Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic.
