Northwest Iowa Community College Thunder Athletics

Sunday September 1st, 2024 NCC Thunder Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams traveled to Mineral Area Community College in Park Hills, Missouri. The team was fortunate enough to experience some sights such as The Arch before playing in the respective competitions.

The women’s team got things started at 1:00 pm. The Thunder competed throughout the first half before surrendering more goals in the second half. Final result, a loss for NCC 0-9. Mariya Garcia, goalkeeper, had 15 saves on the day.

The Thunder’s next game is at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska on Monday September 9th, start time at 1:00p.

The Thunder men played the second game of the afternoon in Park Hills, Missouri. The team competed hard, but couldn’t get the ball beyond the goalkeeper’s reach. Eran Nasseraldeen, who scored the first goal in NCC history against Lake Superior, had taken two shots and one shot on goal, but was unsuccessful in his attempts. Charlie Prtenjaca started the match between the posts as goalkeeper, allowing 7 goals, but also saving another 8 attempts. The Thunder lost the match 0-7.

The Thunder’s next game is at Dordt University on Friday September 6th at 6:30pm. The men will also play at Southeast Community College on Monday September 9th, start time at 3:30pm.

The NCC Thunder Sports Shooting team takes aim on their new season Saturday September 7th at Bob Hay Memorial Conservation Area in Webster County, Iowa against Iowa Central Community College. The Sports Shooting team’s next match is a home meet at Sibley on Saturday September 14th at 10:30am.

NCC competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
