Northwest Iowa Community College Welcomes Ian Pascual to Men’s Soccer and Automotive Program

Sheldon, IA – Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) is excited to announce that Ian Pascual from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has committed to joining the Thunder Men’s Soccer Team and enrolling in the Automotive program this coming academic year.

Ian’s decision to choose NCC is rooted in his desire to launch his athletic and professional career at a place that offers both growth and opportunity. Pascual said, “It represents the best opportunity to stand out and to be developed as a player at the beginning of my career.” He joins NCC with a history of playing defensively as a full back or center back, bringing strength and tenacity to the Thunder’s backline.

Ian chose the Automotive program due to his profound interest in cars and his ambition to work within the automotive industry. The program at NCC is distinguished by its hands-on approach to learning about vehicle operation and functionality, aspects Ian is eager to explore.

What stands out for Ian about NCC is the chance to actively contribute to the development of the programs he will be a part of. This opportunity to influence and grow with the program was a significant factor in his decision to attend NCC.

An athletic scholarship has made it feasible for Ian to study in the United States, helping to mitigate the financial challenges posed by international education. This support is crucial for him and his family, enabling him to pursue his academic and athletic goals abroad.

Ian has participated extensively in federation tournaments in his home country, competing in various age categories from U16 to U19. His experience in these competitive environments has prepared him well for the challenges of college soccer in the U.S.

Ian commented, “The opportunity to join Team Thunder is exciting, and I intend to make the most out of it.” He is excited to start his journey as a student-athlete and as a potential professional athlete in the future.

stated Jesse Kuehler, Men’s Head Soccer Coach at NCC, underscoring the high expectations for Ian’s impact on team Thunder stated, “I’m very excited to bring Ian into the squad for the fall. His tenacity and pace will be a great addition to our team. His versatility on the pitch will bring another added talent to the group.”

Ian is the son of Adriano Pascual and Gladys Lai, who reside in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
