Northwest Iowa Community College Women’s Soccer Team Welcomes Sophia Schwappach

Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) has announced the newest addition to its women’s soccer team: Sophia Schwappach.

Hailing from Cambridge, Minnesota, Schwappach brings a blend of athleticism, dedication, and enthusiasm to the Thunder roster. Schwappach said decision to join NCC was driven by her passion for both nursing and soccer.

“I chose NCC because of the nursing program and the ability to play college soccer,” Schwappach said.

With a lifelong dream of entering the medical field, Schwappach found the nursing program at NCC to be the perfect fit, noting one aspect of the nursing program that stood out to Sophia is the hands-on experiences offered by NCC.

Schwappach added that she looks forward to immersing herself in these practical learning opportunities, which will undoubtedly enhance her education and future career prospects. Schwappach also said that admires NCC’s nursing building and its facilities.

Schwappach’s soccer journey began in high school, where she played as a left wing. She continued her athletic pursuits in club soccer with the Cambridge Isanti Soccer Club, further honing her skills on the field.

Schwappach said she is excited to join the team and she looks forward to playing alongside her new teammates, and making lasting connections.

“I’m very excited to start playing and to meet other people,” Schappach said.

Coach Tre Thomas is confident that Schappach will make a significant impact on the team.

“Sophia will be a great addition to the program! She is an athletic winger that I’m hopeful will bring plenty of goals and assists for the season! She is an outgoing person that will bring a good light for the program and represent our culture in the best way possible,” coach Thomas said.
