Sioux City, Iowa – A Northwestern College athlete and a Dordt University athlete were named as Great Plains Athletic Conferene (GPAC) Track and Field Athletes-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Wednesday, January 21st.
Braden Kalvelage from Northwestern is this week’s field athlete-of-the-week. Kalvelage, a senior from Hastings, Nebraska, won two events at the Nebraska Graduate Classic last weekend, setting an indoor PR in the long jump at 7.55 meters and taking first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.67 seconds.
Kaden Van Wyngarden of Dordt University is this week’s track athlete-of-the-week. Van Wyngarden, a junior, from Pella, Iowa, recorded a pair of first place finishes last weekend at the Mount Marty Open. He won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:33.3 and was part of a Defenders 4×800-meter relay team that hit the ‘A’ standard with the fastest time in the NAIA at 7:42.29.
