MADISON, S.D. – The Northwestern College baseball team (16-25, 8-16 GPAC) completed their non-conference slate of the season with a nine-inning midweek tilt at North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Dakota State University (28-13, 14-6 NSAA), falling 9-4 on Tuesday night. Sam Stanford drove in two of the Raiders’ four runs.

How It Happened
It was another fast start for the Raiders, scoring three runs in the first three innings. Right off the bat in the opening frame, Stanford (So., Los Angeles, Calif./Pacifica Christian) singles through the left side to plate Jaden Snyder (Jr., Larchwood, Iowa/West Lyon). Eli Rash (So., Lake Lotawana, Mo./Summit Christian Academy) would single to second base, and a subsequent Trojan error would allow Snyder to come around to score to give the Raiders the early 2-0 lead.
Dakota State cut the lead in half early via a wild pitch plating their first run, making it 2-1 Raiders after one inning of play.
A Mo Watson (So., Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) RBI double got the run back in the top of the half, scoring Stanford as Northwestern extended their lead back to two (3-1).
The Trojans put a three-spot up in the bottom of the second, taking their first lead of the contest at 4-3. Northwestern would respond to tie the game in the top of the fourth inning thanks to Stanford’s second RBI hit of the night.
A three-run home run in the fourth inning for Dakota State would be enough to guide the home squad to the win, as they would tack on two insurance runs in the seventh to take the 9-4 advantage.
Game Notes
