Northwestern Football Number Six in Preseason Poll

Orange City Iowa — Northwestern College is ranked among the nation’s top 10 in the second preseason publication of 2020, the College Football America Yearbook.

The Red Raiders occupy the No.6 slot in the early poll, joining fellow GPAC member and two-time defending national champion, Morningside, in the top five. Grand View, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Marian (Ind.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) round out the top five. Northwestern is one of three teams from the GPAC (Morningside-1, Dordt-24) listed in the top 30.

Northwestern finished the 2019 season with a 9-2 record and ranked 10th in the final NAIA Coaches’ poll. They qualified for their third straight postseason, losing in the first round of the Football Championship Series to Saint Xavier 25-20.

Head Coach Matt McCarty’s squad will begin fall camp August 17 and opens the 2020 season on Sept. 12 at No.1 Morningside.
The NAIA section of the College Football America 2020 Yearbook features 16 pages of content including a National preview, the NAIA preseason Starting Lineup, an update on each NAIA conference and capsules for every NAIA team, including 2019 results and 2020 schedules.

College Football America Yearbook touts itself to be the only book on the market that covers all divisions of college football (NCAA FBS, FCS, D-II, D-III, NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA, USports and other unaffiliated teams, and has done so since its first book was delivered in 2012.
