Orange City, Iowa — Northwestern College will be without star quarterback Tyson Kooima in Monday night’s NAIA Championship game against Lindsey Wilson College in Grambling, Louisiana.
Kooima was injured on a play in which he threw the winning touchdown pass with 16 seconds remaining in a 44-41 win over two-time defending national champion Morningside.
That’s Northwestern coach Matt McCarty who says Kooima’s role this week has been to help backup Blake Fryar get ready to play.
It’s Northwestern’s first trip to the NAIA title game since 1984.
