Northwestern Sweeps GPAC Football Player Of The Week Awards

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Thursday & Saturday, August 26 & 28, 2020. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 202-22 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Offense – Blake Fryar, Quarterback (Northwestern College)
Northwestern quarterback Blake Fryar is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Fryar, a sophomore from Waukee, Iowa, was 12-of-18 through the air for 210 yards and a pair of touchdown passes in the Raiders 66-9 season opening win over Presentation. He also added 23 yards rushing on three carriers. The second-ranked Raiders host Hastings College in Orange City, Iowa, on September 4. Kick off will be at 1 pm.

Defense – Jaden Snyder, Defensive Back (Northwestern College)
Northwestern defensive back Jaden Snyder is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Snyder, a freshman, from Larchwood, Iowa, had two interceptions and returned them both for a touchdown in the 66-9 season opening victory over the Saints. His first takeaway was a 24-yard pick six to open the Northwestern scoring in the first quarter. His second pick six was a 36-yard return. The second-ranked Raiders host Hastings College in Orange City, Iowa, on September 4. Kick off will be at 1 pm.

Special Teams – Kole Telford, Returner (Northwestern College)
Kole Telford of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Telford, a freshman, from Rock Rapids, Iowa, started the second half with a bang, returning the kickoff to the house (100-yard return, officially). A few yards deep in the endzone and returned it. The return also broke a Northwestern College football program record, the first-ever Raider to return a kickoff 100-yards for a score. The second-ranked Raiders host Hastings College in Orange City, Iowa, on September 4. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
