NWC Baseball Falls To #2 Team In The Country

Chickasha, Oklahoma — The Northwestern College baseball team lost to No.2 University of Science & Arts Oklahoma 17-4 Wednesday afternoon at the Bill Smith Park in Chickasha, Okla.

The Raiders have dropped two straight and are 4-6 on the season heading into a four-game set against University of Northwestern (Minn.).

Noa Vogel belted a three-run home run in his team’s four-run first inning, scoring Josh Fakkema and Kip Cullian, as Northwestern surged ahead 4-0. Cullinan hit a RBI single, scoring Sutton Derr, prior to Vogel’s home run.

The Drovers came back with two runs in the first and grabbed the lead for good with a three-run second inning off Raider starter Evan Olesen (0-2). USAO added two more in the third and blew the game open with a nine-run fourth inning.

USAO tallied 18 hits of Raider pitchers and scored in every inning but the sixth. Brock Henderson (1-0) earned the win, giving up five hits and all four runs in five innings of work. Tanner Bercier and Cayleb Hunter both pitched one scoreless inning in relief.
