Des Moines, Iowa — The Northwestern College women’s track and field team turned in 17 top 10 finishes competing in the Grand View Invite (Vikings Invite), their first outdoor meet of the 2021 season, held at in Des Moines, Iowa.
Hunter Koepke ran a personal best in winning the 10K race, crossing the finish line with a time of 38:19, over a minute faster than the second place runner.
Caitlin Ostbye anchored the Raiders sprint crew, recording three four top five finishes (2 individual and 2 relays). The freshman was the runner-up in the 100m with a time of 12.9 and then placed third overall out of 48 runners in the 200m with a time of 26.8. Ostbye was also part of two relays that placed second (4×100 and 4×400).
Savonne Sterk and Madi Blankespoor placed among the top 10 in two events each, finishing seventh and eighth respectively in the 400m while also being on the runner-up 4×400. Morgan Van Der Brink placed fifth in the 1500m and was the fourth and final member of the 4×400.
Kaylynn Ridgely and Becca Bindert both recorded a pair of top 10 showings in field events. Ridgely was the runner-up in the high jump and placed ninth in the long jump. Bindert placed eighth in the shot put and discus.
