Orabs Down George Little Rock 4-2 in Baseball

Sheldon Iowa — Sheldon downed George Little Rock 4-2 in Sheldon Tuesday night. It was the conference opener for both teams.

The Mustangs scored first with a run in their first at bat. Caleb DeWit reached on an error and would later score on a wild pitch for the first run of the game.

Sheldon countered with a run in the bottom of the second. Brendan Cain singled up the middle and scored from second on a drive to right field off the bat of Cole McDonald to even the score at 1-1.

G-LR went up 2-1 with a run in the top of the third as Noah Terhark singled to right and  scored from second following a balk call. Caleb DeWit drove in the run with a single to left field.

Sheldon scored three runs in the bottom of the third to close out the scoring. Mathew Meyer singled to left. Blake Radke reached on an error and Tye Sudbeck walked to load the bases. Max Hamill hit a sac fly to center to score Meyer. Radke scored on a ground ball off the bat of Aubren Budden. Cain drove in Sudbeck with a single to left field to close out the scoring. With scoreless baseball the rest of the way it ended in a 4-2 Orab win.

Aubren Budden got the win going the first six innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and struck out 13.  Sudbeck pitched a perfect 7th in relief.

Ben Anderson took the loss going 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 6 and walked just 1.

With the win Sheldon is 1-0 in the conference and 1-2 for the year. George Little Rock is 0-1 in the Siouxland and even at 1-1 on the season.

Both teams are on the road Wednesday with Sheldon at Okoboji and G-LR at Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
