Sheldon Iowa — The Sheldon Orab girls basketball team opened the season with a 61-46 home win over Okoboji Tuesday night.
The Orabs led at all the breaks up 15-9 at the end of the first quarter and were in front 33-21 at halftime. At the end of three the lead was 43-32 and with free throws converted down the stretch Sheldon got the win 61-46.
Payton Lode led the offense with 15 points followed by Claire Johnson with 14. Maliah Kleinhesselink hit for 13 including an 11 of 15 performance from the free throw line. The Pioneers Montana Wilson led all scorers with 20 points on the night.
With the win Sheldon opens the season at 1-0. It was the season opener for Okoboji as well. Both teams are off until Tuesday December 1st with Sheldon at MOC Floyd Valley. The Pioneers will have their home opener against Rock Valley.
