Playoff Field Released For 8 Player Through Class 2A

Iowa football playoffs open on Friday October 21st for Iowa 8 Player, Class A, 1A and 2A.

The Sheldon Orabs have qualified out of 2A District 1 along with District Champion Central Lyon George Little Rock. They were joined by West Lyon who finished second and Unity Christian who finished third.

Area qualifiers in 1A include District 1 Champion West Sioux along with Western Christian, Emmetsburg and Ridge View as the top 4 finishers.

Class A the District 1 title went to Hartley Melvin Sanborn followed by Gehlen Catholic, Hinton and South O’Brien.

8 Player automatic qualifiers for the 32 team field included three teams from District 1. They were District 1 winner Remsen St. Mary’s, Newell Fonda and Kingsley Pierson. A three team group also qualified out of District 2. They were District Champion Greatenger Terrell Ruthven Ayreshire and Harris Lake Park.

In Class A, 1A and 2A the top four in each of the 8 Districts made the playoffs. In 8 Player football there are 10 Districts. The top three in each were automatic qualifiers with two wild cards to fill out the 32 team field.

In Class 3A, 4A and 5A the regular season ends on Friday the 21st with a field of 16 qualifying for the playoffs in those three classes. Playoff match ups were due to be released this weekend.
