Orange City, Iowa — The Northwestern College softball team opened conference play with a split against the University of Jamestown in a doubleheader played Saturday in Orange City.
Game One: 8-3 loss
A five-run, 1st inning put the Jimmies in front and forced Northwestern to play from behind from the beginning
Santina Zito earned a bases loaded walk, Sydney Prussia hit a two-run double and Gracie Fisher added a run-scoring single. Both teams scored two runs in the second; Emily Strasser hit the first of her two home runs in the bottom of the second, scoring Jordyn Kramer. A solo home run by Strasser in the fourth put Northwestern within four, 7-3
Jamestown completed the scoring with an unearned run in the seventh

Game Two: 7-3 win
Northwestern pushed four runs over the first two innings. Jennifer Boeve scored on a stolen base in the first and hit an RBI groundout in the second. the Raiders took advantage aggressive base running and two Jamestown errors leading to the other three runs. Both teams scored a run in the fifth; and Morgan Geiszler hit an RBI double for the Jimmies. Boeve led off with a double and scored on another Jamestown error. Northwestern scored its final runs in the sixth, taking advantage of two more Jamestown errors.
Jamestown completed the scoring in the seventh on RBI singles from Katie Merchant and Jenna Remenar
