Cedar Rapids, Iowa — The Northwestern College women’s cross country team finished second at the Mustang National Preview meet held at the Seminole Valley Cross Country Course in Cedar Rapids.
In a preview of the NAIA National Championships to be held in early April on the same course, Northwestern ran one its best races this season, finishing second among the 10 teams competing. The Raiders totaled 74 points, trailing only ninth-ranked The Master’s University with 62, marking their sixth top five finish as a team this season.
Four Northwestern runners turned in their best career finish, led by Hunter Koepke who placed fourth with a personal-best 5K time of 18:55, shattering her previous best time by 17 seconds. Koepke now has four top 10 finishes in her career. Anna Hiebner was just behind in sixth place, her highest finish, with a time of 19:03.
Autumn Muilenburg placed 16th overall with a time of 19:49, finishing in the top 25 for the 11th time. Katlyn Wiese (22nd – 20:22) and Morgan Van Der Brink (29th-20:36) recorded their best career finish.
Arianna Ghiorso (The Master’s) won the race, completing the 5K course in a time of 18:19, followed by Summer Cooper (Goshen) with a time of 18:44.
