Northwestern College looks for its fourth consecutive win as they travel to Doane this Saturday for another conference match up. Tip-off is set for 2pm. Northwestern has a conference record of 8-5, sitting 5th in the GPAC, and 8-8 overall. Doane is 10th in the conference with a record of 2-12, and 4-14 overall.
Northwestern College cruised to a 101-62 home win over Doane in a conference match-up played December 12th at the Bultman Center.
Sammy Blum netted 20 points and was one of four Raiders to score in double figures. Devyn Kemble (18 points) and Taylor VanderVelde (16pts) both poured in then- season highs and Emilee Danner contributed 15 points as Northwestern turned in its highest scoring game of the season to date.
Doane shot 30% for the game, 33% (4/120 from the three-point line, and was led by Sydney Roth with 24 points and eight boards.
The Tigers have lost five consecutive games, coming into Saturday’s game against Northwestern. Last time out, they fell to Hastings 88-54 to fall to 2-12 in the GPAC, 4-13 overall. Doane’s two wins in conference play have both been against MountMarty.
Baumgartner is in his first full season as head coach, serving as both an assistant and interim coach last year. Baumgartner was an assistant with the men’s program for two years prior and returns one starter, seven players from a 2019-20 team that went 1-21 in the GPAC, 2-25 overall.
Three straight wins have put the Raiders in fifth place in the current GPAC standings. Home victories over Dakota Wesleyan and College of Saint Mary brought their conference record to 8-5, one half game back of Dordt. Northwestern is 8-8 overall.
The Raiders are incredibly balanced in all statistical areas with two players, Molly Schany and Sammy Blum, scoring in double figures. Eight additional players are scoring from 4-9 points per game. Both Schany and Blum have been in double figures in twelve games.
