Sioux Falls South Dakota — Former Orab baseball standout Taylor Zeutenhorst signed with the Sioux Falls Canaries shortly after being released by the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
Taylor had a good night for the Sioux Falls Canaries Tuesday night against the Winnipeg team that had released him a couple days earlier. He entered the game in the 7th at 1st base. With the canaries trailing 5 – 4 with runners at the corners, 1 out, he lifted a deep fly ball to centerfield driving in the tying run in the top of the 9th. He then led of the 11th with a single but they were not able to push a run across. In the top of the 13th with runners at second and third, with two outs he had a single up the middle that drove in 2, latter he stole second base and scored in the 13th to push the lead to 8 – 5, which they won 8 – 6 in 13 innings. He ended up 2 for 2, 3 rbi, tying and winning, stole a base and scored a run.
Thursday afternoon With the score tied 2-2, the Sioux Falls Canaries scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to claim their seventh win by an 8-4 final over the Goldeyes. For Sioux Falls, 1B Taylor Zeutenhorst led the way going 3-for-5 with two runs scored as the Canaries outhit Winnipeg 12-7. An RBI single from DH David Bergin followed by a two RBI double from C Cameron Garfield set the stage for 2B Frank Martinez who hit a two-run homer, his third of the year.
The Canaries will be in Sioux Falls for the weekend home stand against the Fargo Morehead Redhawks with games Friday Saturday and Sunday.
