#3 seed Remsen St Mary’s returns to the Well Wednesday night at 7:15. The Hawks advanced with a 70-52 win over West Harrison Monday afternoon. Their opponent will be #2 seed North Linn who eliminated North Mahaska 89-43 in the other lower bracket quarterfinal.
Remsen St Mary’s opened on an 11-0 run in their quarterfinal match up against West Harrison and never looked back. RSM led 21-3 at the end of the first quarter but West Harrison found their offense and the Hawk lead was 38-24 at the half. At the end of three it was 55-39 with Remsen St Mary’s going on to win it 70-52.
Four Hawks hit double figures led by Carter Schorg with 20. Cael Ortmann hit for 17. Jaxon Bunker dropped in 14 with Alex Schroeder adding a dozen.
The Hawks had a 24-12 edge in points in the paint and an 18-7 advantage in points off turnovers. Aside from the game being tied for :10 seconds the Hawks were in front for the other 31:50. With the win Remsen St Mary’s is 25-0.
North Linn rolled to a 29-9 first quarter lead in their quarterfinal game lead and were up 58-15 at the half with a running clock to start the second half. Four of the five Lynx starters hit double figures led by Dylan Kurt with 19. Tate Haughenbury had 18. Cade Haughenbury dropped in 14 while Austin Hilmer pumped in 13 and dished out 10 assists.
North Linn’s biggest lead was 53 points with 6:13 left in the fourth quarter as they rolled to an 89-43 win over North Mahaska. With the win the Lynx come into the semis at 25-1. The offense was up and running early and continued to roll throughout the game. Among the main contributing factors to the win, the Lynx held a 22-2 advantage in fast break points and a 36-12 edge in points off turnovers.
#3 seed Remsen St Mary’s and #2 seed North Linn tip off at 7:15 Wednesday night. The upper bracket semi with top ranked Grand View Christian and #4 seed Lake Mills is scheduled for 5:30 Wednesday afternoon.
