Janie possess a strong internal motor to defend any position on the floor and is a relentless rebounder. Janie’s spirit and attitude will promote the Defender Way not only on campus and within our team, but to the community abroad. We are thrilled to serve Janie as she develops as a student-athlete at Dordt!” said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.

Schoonhoven averaged 20.7 points and 10.7 rebounds last season after scoring 17.6 points and grabbing 9.6 rebounds per contest as a sophomore. She has helped Unity to three War Eagle Conference titles and a 2019 state tournament berth. Schoonhoven is listed as a 5-10 forward.

“I chose Dordt because of the supportive Christian community that will help me through my faith journey, as well as my academics and athletics. Dordt is very evident in displaying a Christ-centered education and will push me to succeed in all areas of life. I am excited to grow and be challenged in my faith and academics with the help of my coaches and teammates, professors, and friends,” said Schoonhoven.
