Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon girls couldn’t hold on as they fell to Central Lyon 57-51, and the Orab Boys cruised to an 86-23 victory at the O-Rena Friday night.
Sheldon started the girls game with a quick 4-0 lead, but Central Lyon and the Orabs battled and after one, the score was tied at 12-12. Sheldon then went on an 8-0 run and later a 7-0 run in the second quarter to take a 33-20 lead heading into the break. Brooklyn Grady of Sheldon had eleven first half points. The Lions then came out the aggressor in the second half, and were able to get within two, but Sheldon led 43-39 heading into the final eight minutes. Central Lyon would take the lead in the fourth with a 11-0 run, and come away with the 57-51 victory.
Central Lyon got a game high sixteen points from Sutton Schlumbohm, and twelve points came from MaKayla Witt.
Sheldon had 2 players in double figures. Brooklyn Grady had fifteen points, and Emily Meyer added eleven.
With the win, Central Lyon improves to 7-3 on the year, 7-2 in the Conference. Sheldon falls to 2-8 on the year 2-7 in the Siouxland.
The Sheldon boys cruised to victory as they led at all the breaks. After one Sheldon led 26-11. Heading into the half the Orabs extended their lead to 46-13. After three, Sheldon’s lead was 61-21 and they went on to the 86-23 victory.
Sheldon had three players in double figures. Tyler Johnson and Trent Van Meeteern had a game high twelve points each, and Kyle Boerhave added ten points. Central Lyon was led by Carter Krull with eight points.
Sheldon improves to 8-1 on the year, 7-1 in the Siouxland. Central Lyon falls to 0-9 on the year, 0-8 in the conference.
