Sheldon Earns A Split At Sioux Center Friday Night

Sheldon traveled to Sioux Center Friday night and earned a split with the Warriors. The Girls won in overtime 48-47. The Boys game went to Sioux Center 75-65.

In the girls game Sheldon led 12-11 after the first quarter. The Warriors moved in front 23-19 at the half and built a 33-26 lead after the third quarter. Sheldon got back to even at 43-43 at the end of regulation and the game went into overtime. Sheldon was one point better in the final four minutes and they got the win 48-47.

In the overtime Emma Barwick went 1 of 2 from the line. Claire Johnson was 1 of 2 with a field goal and Maliah Kleinhesselink was 1 of 2 from the line as the Orabs did enough for the win. The Warriors got a field goal from Austyn Van Zee and a pair of free throws from Reagan Jansen.

Sheldon had two players in double figures getting a game high 17 from Emma Barwick and 14 from Claire Johnson. Sioux Center was led by Tatum Schmalbeck and Reagan Jansen with 9 points each as 9 players found a spot in the scorebook.

With the win the Orabs are 10-11 for the year and 7-10 in the conference. Sioux Center is 11-9 for the season and 9-7 in the Siouxland.

In the boys game that followed Sioux Center led at all the breaks up 17-10 at the end of the first. Sheldon closed to within 31-28 at the half before Sioux Center took control in the third leading 57-43 going into the fourth quarter. The exclamation point was a three at the buzzer by Christian Vietor. Bench players got their opportunity in the later stages and the Warriors finished with a 75-65 win.

Sioux Centers big three hit double figures led by Vietor with 16. Cael Van Beek hit for 13 with Kyler Fritz adding 10. Sheldon had four players in double figures led by Ryan Vollink with 14. Shane Brouwer pumped in 13. Blake Radke and Anthony Provost added 11 points each.

With the win Sioux Center is 9-10 on the year and 9-7 in the Siouxland. Sheldon sits at 6-14 for the year and 4-12 in the conference.

Up next for the Orabs a home double header with Rock Valley on Tuesday. Sioux Center will be at home tuesday night against Okoboji.
