Humboldt Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs saw their season come to a close at Humboldt in the quarterfinal round of the Class 3A Region 2 softball tournament. The Orabs dropped a 10-0 five inning decision to the 3rd ranked Wildcats.
Humboldt scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning and followed that with a run in the second to take a 3-0 lead. A 2-run homer from pitcher Ellie Jacobson put them up 5-0 after three. A five run 4th inning would run the score to 10-0. The Wildcats held the Orabs off the board in the top of the fifth inning to bring the game to a close.
Jacobson fired a no hitter at Sheldon striking out 10 in the contest. She also drove in 4 runs on the night to lead the offense.
With the win Humboldt improves to 28-2 and they will take an 11 game winning streak into the region semifinals Friday night against Algona who downed Estherville Lincoln Central 2-1 in 8 innings. Sheldon closes out the season at 6-19.
