Sheldon Native Named Athletico Coach of the Year

football-strategy-22687119Carlisle Iowa — Sheldon native now Carlisle High School Head Football Coach Mark Hoekstra has been chosen as the winner for the third annual Athletico Coach of the Year award. This honor recognizes coaches for their positive influence on student-athletes in areas of community involvement, sportsmanship, coaching success and classroom involvement.

As the winner, Coach Hoekstra received four tickets and hotel accommodations to the Big 10 Championship football game on December 5th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. He will be honored with a pre-game, on-field presentation of the award
with a member of the Athletico, LTD team.

In his 12th year at the helm of the Wildcats football program, high school physical education teacher and strength and conditioning coach, Hoekstra was among nominees from any junior or senior high school from the states of Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. He is the husband of Andrea and father of Madison (sophomore) and Molly (8th grade).
