Sheldon, Iowa — Sioux Center defeated the Sheldon Orabs 8-3 in a Siouxland Conference softball match up Wednesday night in Sheldon.
The Warriors would play small ball early and take an early 1-0 first inning lead after Kaylea Van Regenmorter would lay down the bunt to drive in Jessica Harald from third. Tori Rensink would push the score to 2-0 in the top of the 2nd with the sacrifice bunt to drive in Aubrey Sandbulte from third base, and Harald would again come around to score in the third inning by bunting then later, stealing second, followed by a steal of third base, and eventually stealing home on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning. The Orabs would respond with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third. Brynn Groff would lay down the bunt to reach on the single, Alyssa Kavanagh would reach on an error, and both were drove home by a Macy Jacobsma single to center. Sydney Iedema would come in to score on the next play to even things up at 3-3. Sioux Center would again take the lead in the 5th inning to move the score to 4-3, then put up another 4 in the top of the seventh to come away with the 8-3 victory.
Hanna Dykshorn got the win for Sioux Center. Dykshorn went 4 innings, giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs, and struck out 6.
Nicole Johnson to the loss going the distance, and giving up 8 runs on 13 hits, and walking 3, while striking out 2.
Sioux Center improves to 6-5 on the year, 3-2 in the conference.
Sheldon falls to 2-7 on the year and 2-4 in the Siouxland.
