Solberg, Schafer Push Nighthawks to Victory

nighthawk logoEstherville, Iowa — The #5 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Nighthawks defeated Estherville-Lincoln Central 34-7 in Estherville Friday night.

The Nighthawks jumped on the board with their first possession. Brett Moser would find Shane Solberg from 24 yards out for the score. After the missed PAT it was 6-0 Nighthawks. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley would score again late in the opening period. After a good dose of the Jacob Schafer rushing attack, Moser again found Solberg for the TD, this time from 55 yards out. After the 1st quarter it was BHRV leading 12-0. Estherville-Lincoln Central’s only score of the game came late in the 1st half. Evan Olesen hit a wide-open Jacob Bosch for the 24 yard score. Heading in halftime, BHRV’s lead was cut to 12-7.

The Nighthawks would come out of the intermission quickly and put points back on the board. With 10:07 left in the 3rd quarter, Schafer would find pay dirt from 8 yards out. After a successful 2-point conversion, it was 20-7. Late in the 3rd quarter, Solberg would get his 3rd touchdown reception of the game from Brett Moser with a 70-yard catch and run. After the two-point conversion, the score was 28-7 Nighthawks. Jacob Schafer would get into the end zone for a 2nd and final time of the night with 11:49 left in the game. Schafer found some open space and ran 61 yards for the score, making it 34-7 and your final.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley improves to 2-1 on the year, 1-0 in the district and play host to the Sheldon Orabs in Rock Valley next Friday.

Estherville-Lincoln Central falls to 1-2 on the year and 0-1 in the District. E-LC hosts Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in district play next Friday.
