Spencer’s Johnson Signs With NWC Women’s Soccer

Orange City, Iowa — Lexi Johnson (Spencer, Iowa) has signed her letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Northwestern College.

Johnson comes to Northwestern after a stand out high school career at Spencer High School. Her 2019 season saw Johnson play outside back and tally seven goals, five assists, and total 19 points. After a canceled 2020 season (Covid) Johnson moved to the forward position for the 2021 season and netted an impressive 54 goals. Along with that she tallied 13 assists for an outstanding 121 points with just over 55% of her shots being on goal. Johnson is a First Team All-Conference, All-District, and All-State honoree in 2021. She was the Sioux City Journal Soccer Player of the Year.

“Lexi is a standout player who will push us forward on the field. She is gritty and tenacious, and she has a knack for the goal. We are excited to see what she will do here at Northwestern. Above her talents on the field, she is a great fit for our school and will push us forward off the field as well.”

Johnson is an Academic All-Conference and an A Honor Roll student. She plans to study Business Administration at Northwestern. Johnson is the daughter of Ryan and Anne.

“The team was very welcoming when I came on my visit,” stated Johnson. “The campus felt like home. I knew I could play with an amazing team and receive a solid education.”
