Northwest Iowa — Qualifying for State Track and Field is on the schedule all across Iowa for Thursday. In Class 2A Sheldon athletes will be at the District hosted by Kingsley Pierson. They’ll be joined by Cherokee, Estherville Lincoln Central, Hartley Melvin Sanborn, Hinton, Okoboiji, Sibley Ocheyedan, Sioux Center, West Lyon and Western Christian.
In Class A area schools will gather at Hawarden. The field includes Akron Westfield, Central Lyon, LeMars Gehlen, George Little Rock, the Harris Lake Park boys team, Lawton Bronson, Marcus Meriden Cleghorn, Remsen Union, River Valley, the Siouxland Community Christian girls team, South O’Brien, Remsen St Mary’s, Trinity Christian and host team West Sioux.
Class 3A teams from the area are getting together at LeMars with the field to include Sioux City Heelan, Boyden Hull Rock Valley, MOC Floyd Valley, Sergeant Bluff Luton, Spencer, Spirit Lake, Storm Lake and the host team LeMars Bulldogs.
The top two in each district advance to the state meet along with the top 8 state wide.
Boys Golf
Due to the forecast of considerable rain, the Class 2A sectional golf tournament scheduled for Thursday in Sioux Center has been moved to Friday at 10:00 am. Teams include Sheldon, Emmetsburg, Estherville Lincoln Central, Hartley Melvin Sanborn, Okoboji, Sibley Ocheyedan, Western Christian and host team Sioux Center.
