Western vs Unity
Unity Christian improved to 3-1 after shutting out HMS 38-0 in Week 4. Unity Christian Knights Head Coach Josh Van Kempen liked how his offense stepped up to the challenge.
The Knights start off their district schedule against Western Christian. According to Van Kempen, Western Christian is a tough opponent with multiple offensive threats.
Van Kempen says holding on to the ball is what the Knight’s need to do to come away with the win.
Western Christian improved to 4-0 after toppling Central Lyon/George-Little Rock 42-5 last week. Wolfpack Head Coach Travis Kooima liked how his team took over in the second half to get the win.
What grabs Kooima’s attention about the Knights is their scheme and speed.
Coach Kooima says that Western needs to contain Unity’s rushing attack and make them pass.

Sheldon vs MOC-Floyd Valley
Sheldon opens the District schedule at MOC Floyd Valley. Both teams are coming off losses last Friday. The Orabs are 1-3 while the Dutch are 0-4.
The start of the District schedule is a time of new beginnings with non district games in the rear view mirror. Orab Head Coach Tyler Lloyd.
Lloyd adds this weeks game does have a different feel.
MOC Floyd Valley Head Coach Grant Hegstead is impressed with the Orabs growth from week to week.

South O’Brien vs HMS
The Hartley-Melvin Sanborn Hawks are 2-2 heading into the district portion of the schedule after falling to Unity Christian last Friday. Hawks Head Coach Tyler Horkey talks about the loss.
HMS opens district play against rival South O’Brien. Horkey says that even though South O’Brien’s offense hasn’t changed in the four years he’s coached at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, the Wolverines do it well.
Horkey says the key to the district win is being mentally ready.
The South O’Brien Wolverines are 4-0 after their non-district schedule. Last week South O’Brien got the 42-16 win over Sioux Central. Wolverines Head Coach Mark Fuhrman breaks down the win.
Furhman says HMS QB Kooper Ebel gets his attention.
Coach Fuhrman says to stay undefeated, South O’Brien needs to stop the option running game of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn.

BHRV vs CLGLR
Boyden Hull Rock Valley is on the road at Central Lyon George Little Rock for their District opener. The Nighthawks and Lions are both 0-4 on the year.
The Lions multiple offense gets the attention of Nighthawks Head Coach Cory Brandt.
The biggest key for the Nighthawks taking the next step is discipline and consistency.
Lions Head Coach Curtis Eben on the tradition involved in this weeks match up.
Eben feels a win can come with four quarters of good football.

Sibley-Ocheyedan vs West Sioux
Sibley-Ocheyedan ended their non-district portion of the schedule with a 34-14 win over GTRA. Generals Head Coach Tate Kellenberger talks about Sibley-Ocheyedan’s 3rd straight win.
The Generals start district play against #1 West Sioux, and Kellenberger is well aware of what the Falcons bring to the table.
Coach Kellenberger says the key to the game is controlling the clock.

Northwestern vs Jamestown
The Northwestern Red Raiders improved to 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in the GPAC after dominating Dakota Wesleyan last week Saturday 52-7. Red Raiders Head Coach Matt McCarty liked how his team started the contest fast.
This Saturday Northwestern hosts the Jamestown Jimmies during their homecoming festivities. McCarty says Jamestown has a potent rushing attack.
McCarty says his team needs to jump out to a fast start again to remain undefeated.
Kick off is at 1:30 pm on Saturday at Korver Field in Orange City.
Iowa State vs Baylor
Baylor coach Matt Ruhle will know a lot more about his team after Saturday’s Big 12 opener against Iowa State. The Bears are 3-0 but all three wins have come against inferior opponents.
Ruhle says Iowa State’s Brock Purdy has become a complete quarterback.
Ruhle says the Bears need to find a way to score enough against the Cyclone defense.
Ruhle says this will be a good test to find out how much the Baylor program has progressed.
Iowa State coach Matt Campbell says he likes the mentality of his team heading into the start of the Big 12 play at Baylor. Campbell says the Cyclones had their best week of practice heading into last week’s win over Louisiana-Monroe.
Campbell says all areas played well last week.
ISU beat Baylor 28-14 in a heated affair in Ames a year ago that included several ejections. Campbell does not anticipate any carry over.
Campbell likes the progress of the offensive line.

Iowa vs Middle Tennessee
Middle Tennessee State coach Rick Stockstill says he has been impressed with the consistency of the Iowa program. When the teams meet in Iowa City it will match two of the longest tenured coaches in the FBS. Kirk Ferentz is in his 21st year with the Hawkeyes and Rick Stockstill is in his 14th year with the Blue Raiders.
Stockstill says the Blue Raiders must match Iowa’s toughness.
Stockstill says the offense must find a way to control Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenesa.
The defense must find a way to disrupt Hawkeye quarterback Nate Stanley.
Middle Tennessee State is 1-2 with losses to Michigan and Duke.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says a bye week did not help the Hawkeyes get injured players back on the field. Offensive tackle Alaric Jackson, defensive tackle Brady Rieff and four members of the secondary missed the win at Iowa State. None of them will be in the lineup on Saturday against Middle Tennessee State.
Ferentz says it will allow other players to step up.
Ferentz is confident the injured players will return at some point.
Ferentz says a letdown following an off week is always a concern.
The Hawkeyes are heavily favored in this game but Ferentz says every week there are shocking upsets.
Ferentz says the Hawkeyes have had their share of nail biters in games like this.

UNI vs Weber State
The Northern Iowa Panthers get ready for their third straight Big Sky Conference foe when they visit Weber State. UNI is coming off home wins over Southern Utah and Idaho State.
That’s UNI coach Mark Farley who says the Panthers need to prepare for the altitude in Ogden, Utah.
Farley says because of the altitude the Panthers’ depth may be more of a factor.
The defense has shined in a 2-1 start but Farley says more progress is needed.
Farley says the Panther offense needs a better ground game to help freshman quarterback Will McElvain.
Farley describes the offense as a work in progress.
Weber State is 1-2 with losses to San Diego State and Nevada.
