Thompson Transfers to Northwestern

Northwestern College logoOrange City, Iowa — Britney Thompson has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball and tennis careers at Northwestern College next year.

Thompson comes to Northwestern after one year at Southwest Minnesota State. Thompson, a 6’0” multi-sports standout who played four years for the Le Mars Community volleyball team, earned first team all-conference honors at setter after her junior and senior years. She holds the school record for assists in a season, set during her senior season, and also started as a hitter her freshman and sophomore years, earning all-conference honors as a sophomore. Thompson helped lead her team to the state tournament in 2013 and led the team in blocks all four years at Le Mars. She totaled 1,564 assists, 475 kills, 160 blocks and 367 digs during her career.

“Britney has a huge passion for the game of volleyball,” commented head Northwestern volleyball coach Kyle Van Den Bosch. “She played multiple positions throughout her high school career and her versatility will be a great addition to our team. We are excited that Britney will be continuing her volleyball career and education at Northwestern.”
