Two Dordt Defenders earn Cross-Country Runners-of-the-Week honors

Sioux City, Iowa – Two cross-country runners from Dordt University have been named Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cross-Country Runners-of-the-Week as anounced by the conference Wednesday, Oct. 16th.

Corinne Braun of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Braun, a freshman from Canton, South Dakota, won her third race of the season, earning a first-place finish at the Holiday Inn Express Classic last weekend. Braun ran a career-best time of 21:52, over a minute faster than her previous best, and currently has the top 6K time in the GPAC and 14th best in the NAIA. She has won all three races this season and has helped lead the Defenders to the team title in all three events.

Aidan Vorster of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week.  Vorster, a senior from Chino Hills, California, won the individual title at the Holiday Inn Express Classic, a meet hosted by Dordt University last weekend. He completed the 8K course with a season-best time of 24:49, just nine seconds from matching his personal best. This was Vorster’s third top five finish this season and eighth in his career. Vorster has the fastest 8k time in the GPAC this season.
