Two Red Raiders named GPAC softball Players-of-the-Week

Sioux City – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the softball player and pitcher-of-the-week for contests played March 25-31, 2024. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2023-2024 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Pitcher – Kameryn Etherington, Northwestern College

Kameryn Etherington of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports pitcher-of-the-week.  Etherington, a senior from Algona, Iowa, struck out 14 batters on the week, going 3-0 in all three of her pitching appearances. In a complete-game shutout over Dakota Wesleyan on Friday, Etherington struck out 10 and only allowed three hits.

Player – Tatum Schmalbeck, Northwestern College (Infielder)

Tatum Schmalbeck of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports softball player-of-the-week. Schmalbeck a, freshman from Sioux Center, Iowa, drove in six runs over four games, going 6-for-11 on the week for an average of .545. She was the difference-maker in a 3-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Friday, hitting a three-RBI double to give the Raiders the lead. She also had two RBIs in an 8-0 win over Mount Marty on Wednesday.
