UNI Men’s Basketball Falls To Richmond

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Richmond’s offense found its stride in the second half as UNI men’s basketball fell to the Spiders on Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Center, 60-52.

UNI is now 2-5 overall and 0-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play. Richmond improves to 5-4 on the season. The Panthers are also 13-13 all-time against Atlantic-10 Conference opponents.

Trae Berhow and AJ Green opened up the afternoon with back-to-back three-point baskets on UNI’s first two possessions. The Panther defense held Richmond to a season-low 28 first half points, but the Spiders would close out the opening stanza on a 6-0 run, taking a narrow 28-27 lead into halftime.

Richmond came out of the break with a strong shooting performance from beyond the arc, holding UNI to 37% shooting from the field in the second half. Forward Cole Henry pulled down five rebounds in the second half for the Panthers.

Noah Carter led the way with 13 points for UNI, while Tytan Anderson scored a season-high nine points. Nate Heise posted eight points for UNI, while Berhow notched seven points.

Green led the afternoon with a game-high nine rebounds, while Heise recorded a pair of steals.

UP NEXT

UNI returns to action on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. as they host the Jackson State Tigers at the McLeod Center.
