Van Der Brink Chooses Northwestern

Chris Van Der Brink of Rock Valley has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College this fall.

Van Der Brink is a 6’3″, 250-pound offensive / defensive lineman who played two years for the Boyden-Hull / Rock Valley football team. Van Der Brink compiled 20 tackles and three quarterback sacks in earning first team all-district honors last fall. He helped pave the way for an offense that scored 38 touchdowns and averaged over six yards per play. Van Der Brink was part of a pair of district championship teams and earned academic all-district honors. He plans to major in Engineering at Northwestern and is the son of Scott and Amy.

“Chris is a tough, hard-nosed football player who comes from a great high school program,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. “We are thrilled to have Chris join our Red Raider football team and look forward to working with him over the next four years.”
