Van Ginkel Named GPAC and NAIA Player-of-the-Week

GPAC LogoOrange City, Iowa — Northwestern defensive end Sam Van Ginkel is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America and NAIA Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

Van Ginkel, a senior from Rock Valley, Iowa, totaled a new GPAC and school record with four sacks in the Red Raiders 41-0 win over Midland. For the game he totaled six solo tackles including five for loss (29 yards). The shutout was Northwestern’s first of the season and fifth in the last three years.

The Red Raiders, now 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the GPAC, will host Doane on Saturday in a 1pm game in Orange City.
