Emma Van Meeteren of Sheldon, and Hunter Koepke finished first and second, respectively, in the 5000m to highlight the top finishers for the Northwestern women’s track and field team at the Mount Marty Twilight held tonight in Yankton, S.D.
Van Meeteren turned in a season-best 5K time of 19:18, about six seconds faster than her teammate, Koepke, who edged Amanda Nelson (Augustana) by .4 seconds for a runner-up finish with a time of 19:24.2.
Red Raider athletes recorded 17 top 10 finishes in 10 different events Wednesday night. Angela Brinkman posted a pair of top 10 finishes, placing 10th in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 400m hurdles. Naomi Schimmel placed ninth in the 200m and fifth in the pole vault while Becca Bindert finished fifth in both the shot put and javelin.
