Van Meeteren To Run At Northwestern

Orange City, Iowa — Steven Van Meeteren, of Sheldon,  has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.

Van Meeteren earned six letters (2 cross country, 4 track and field) running for Sheldon High School. A two-time state qualifier in track and field, Van Meeteren finished third as a member of the 4×800 relay as a senior. He also qualified for the state cross country meet as a senior and has personal bests of 2:03 in the 800m, 4:53 in the 1600m and 17:45 in the 5K. A 2018 Iowa Governor’s Scholar and class valedictorian, Van Meeteren plans to major in Biology at Northwestern. He is the son of Larry and Connie.

“We are happy to have Steven join our men’s cross country and track teams this fall,” said Northwestern head coach Scott Bahrke. “He will add depth to our distance crew and is a great teammate who will elevate the performance of those around him.”
