Village Northwest Residents Inducted into Special Olympics Iowa Hall of Fame

Each year, Special Olympics Iowa appoints seven new members to the Special Olympics Hall of Fame. Each appointee must have either participated in or volunteered for Special Olympics Iowa for ten years. Two Village Northwest Unlimited Residents have found themselves in the 2024 Hall of Fame class. On Thursday, December 12, Keith Krumm and Janet Grooters were inducted into the Special Olympics Iowa Hall of Fame. Keith has competed in a number of sports since his start in Special Olympics.

A press release from Village Northwest Unlimited said, “He loves to show off every medal and ribbon he receives, regardless of place, and is the first to congratulate his fellow competitors and athletes. While Janet has retired from competing, she continues to exemplify the spirit of Special Olympics supporting VNU athletes and coaches, cheering them on. According to her coaches, Janet was always willing to try new activities and accepting whatever placement she received, knowing she did her best no matter what and was “brave in the attempt.”
